Every month we’ll release a free wall planner for download. To have the whole year’s planner all at once please scroll down.
I’m not an organized person; I have to admit.
Mostly I rely on spontaneousness for the content creation. I don’t know in advance which recipe I’m going to cook, and I don’t do meal planning either. That resulted in some delayed posts for last holiday season. But if I want to be a pro food blogger, I have to be more serious.
I decided to plan my days.
I used to like planning, a lot. I put down the things I need to do every hour of the day: 7:00 Get up, 7-8:00 Get ready for work, …18–19:00 Piano, 19-20:00 dinner, etc…
But things never went as I planned, even before I have kids. So I stopped.
With kids, I had sort of a routine, but as they grow, they seem to like to break it, in any way possible. So now I only have an alarm set at 8 pm. When it rings, they need to get out the bath, brush their teeth, or stop doing whatever they are doing and start to wind down for bed.
For blogging, I began to realize that with all the duties I have as the lead parent (driver, cook, cleaner…), my hours are scattered, here and there. And I like to start many projects all at once. Make it difficult to track if any get finished, on time. The pictures may be taken days ago, but the blog post can wait as long as two months to get out. Simply because I’ve lost track.
I decide to give a whole new approach to planning, instead of horizontal planning each hour of the day, I’ll do THEMED DAYS:
Monday is for cooking, photography, and editing. I will make good use of longer working hours because the family that carpools with us will do drop off and pick up on Mondays.
Tuesday is for writing blog posts. It’s a deep work day.
Wednesday is the shortest day I have since my daughter has piano lessons. I’ll use this day to revise posts, then publish and promote them on social media.
Thursday is for grocery shopping, meal planning (YES) and recipe testing.
Friday is the day I write the newsletter that will go out the same day.
Saturday I will reply emails, and catch on social media. I think I need to learn how to schedule things on social media. Instagram is taking too much of my time. It’s also a training day: to take lessons, to read, to discover new tools.
Sunday is the family day. No work, no Instagram.
Right now, it’s still BETA period; I’ll let you know how it turns out.
It would also be interesting to learn how you do your plannings. Let me know in the comment.
Lasts week when I discussed this subject with my IG friends. It seems I’m not the only person who want to plan blog posts in advance. But like me, many of you don’t have a system in place. I think the first step is to use an editorial calendar. After a little research I cannot find what I wanted, so I decided to design my own.
I’m super excited to share the first calendar I designed in Photoshop. It took some trials and errors, but I’m happy with the result.
It’s time for you guys to plan your month’s blog content(or house chores) in advance. Download the file while it’s still free. 🙂
Let’s all started planning, lovely people!
