Making and using these wall planners made me more aware of the passing of time, and want to record precious little things in life.
June is the last month of 2016-2017 school year. Gabby has happily graduated from kindergarten. She lost her first tooth too.
I used July’s planner to write down all the Gabby’s summer camps and afternoon activities. There are quite a few, I tell you.
Fortunately, Ana is still in preschool which has a full year program. Next year I’ll have to plan their summer camps much earlier if I want to put them in the same ones. I have been driving them to 2 different schools for the last 2.5 years, It takes me 2-3 hours every day. I cannot stop dreaming one day they will be in the same school. One more year to go. “Hang in there!”
In June we had quite a few hot days, which is unusual for Northern California. That’s why we even pulled out the little pool(s).
To be honest, it was not a good time to use a 450Fº hot oven under such summer heat. But I’ve started a sourdough culture after listening to Michael Pollen’s book Cooked, I have no choice but carrying through my plan and baked my first whole grain sourdough bread, on the day I would say, the hottest day of the year 2017.:-p
Baking bread is not the new thing for me, but using sourdough culture instead of yeast is new. I also ground my own flour from whole wheat berries for the first time. I can taste the b-i-g difference. Even my white-bread-lover husband that has been spoiled long by French baguettes found my whole wheat bread palatable. It definitely worths the hassle.
So with hot summer heat, my adventure in sourdough bread making and many random days of child watch duty, I don’t think I made any new recipe. Sorry guys. I will try to do better in July. Now let’s print out another page of July planner.
Tomorrow we will be heading out camping.
