Every month we’ll release a free wall planner for download.

I cannot believe that we are in December!
This year passed way too fast.
I haven’t finished everything I planned for this year, just like any other year. 🙂
How about you?
I wish I could have done more, but one thing for sure, these calendars helped me get more organized. I hope they helped you too.
About how much we should accomplish, I like to think it this way:
We overestimate what we can do in one year, but underestimate what we can do in a decade.

Just do our work every day, and one day we’ll realize that we get much better and even become an expert.
Don’t fix what is not broken.
Last month I was not much in the mood for cooking,
BECAUSE OF ONE TOOTH!
Long story short, I get a crown (my first one), which caused an infection and lot of pain. I still cannot chew on it one month after the procedure. Then, I was referred to an endo-specialist who recommended a root canal, and another periodontal specialist to get my gum surgically shortened (because the crown is sitting too deep into the gum.)
Now after doing more research, I think the crowning may not even be necessary at that time. The teeth I got the crown on was not actually hurting, it was occasionally sensitive, but the dentist said that there is a hairline crack on the surface (which I found out are quite common on the back teeth for people at my age) and the cavity filling is getting old, so I need a crown.
The crowning procedure is a very traumatic procedure. It involves filling the tooth down, so most of the enamel that protects teeth from extreme temperatures has been removed and dentin is exposed. There are vibration and heat involved (which caused another small crack in the adjacent teeth). I really wish I have not done it, thinking of all the pain endured and the time wasted. I’m blaming myself that I didn’t do more research before agreeing on the crown placement. We tend to trust blindly health professionals just because they are doctors.
Personally, I feel in the US doctors are more inclined to propose procedures and drugs. All procedures or drugs can have complications and side effects, and should not be taken lightly. Unfortunately, dentists get paid more by doing procedures than just checking your teeth and provide advice.
I’m only sharing my personal experience and opinion here. You should consider credentialed medical professionals’ advice and have your own judgmental call.
The second thing that prevents me from cooking too many new recipes is that I’m very into face painting right now.
I was committed to volunteer for the face painting at Winter Market at my daughter’s school tomorrow.
I’ve already done it twice but I just felt that I sucked at those times. I don’t like to be bad at the things I do.
So for the past month, I’ve watched a lot of youtube videos and practiced a lot on myself and my kids.
I still have a long way to go but I’m feeling more prepared now.
Of course, I still cooked Thanksgiving dinner.
My best friend and me, neither of us have relatives living in the states. So we take turns hosting Thanksgiving. This year I made the turkey that is actually juicy and without much fuss. The key is to dry brine the turkey the day before.
This year I got my slow grown, 100% vegetarian fed turkey from Butcher Box. I’ve tried much more expensive heritage bird before, I would say Butcher box’s turkey tastes best. Butcher Box delivers grassed fed, organic meat directly to your door. I like the convenience, the quality, and good price. This week they are offering 10 dollars off and free Ribeyes. It’s a good time to try it.
On the Thanksgiving day, I cooked everything except the dessert and cranberry sauce, from 9:30 am to 4 pm, without a sweat!
I still remembered that I was so stressful 2 years ago for the same dinner. I’m getting better at it!
The menu is Creme of asparagus as the appetizer; Roasted carrots and parsnips, Green beans with bacon bits, Cauliflower mash as sides, the show star is turkey and gravy. And buns, of course!

With a husband who has long commute daily and travels a lot and no other family member to help, to be honest, Someday I’m so tired and feel like a single parent. But the family is the first to me. So I will do as much as I can to provide quality content for this blog.
I just don’t like to churn out the content at all speed.
But I do have a tendency to dive too deep into subjects and want to make everything perfect before I can publish. So it can take forever.:-)
I’ll try to balance the blog frequency and quality better, I promise.
Even I feel my writing is not good enough (English is not my first language). I just have to keep at it so I can get better, like cooking.
About the direction of this blog, I must admit there are too many different subjects.
I originally thought to follow the trend. Cooking blog with great photos now is everywhere.
I think I just have to be myself.
Do what I like at the moment, do it well and see where it goes.
It may focus on cooking, or on photography, or on art and design. It will be my unique voice.
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

I really appreciate that you’re reading and follow along!
Happy holidays and enjoy the last calendar of the year!
